Cesar Chavez Elementary School Mural

In 1995, the school, formerly known as Hawthorne Elementary, had a mural painted by Precita Eyes Muralists. The mural, titled Si Se Puede, pays tribute to Cesar Chavez and his vision as the founder of the United Farm Workers Union. The artwork features grape arbors intertwined among the school windows, symbolizing the agricultural richness of California, while red grapes represent the blood of the workers and their tears. The mural has faced challenges over the years. Water damage in 2013 prompted a white stripe of plaster to be added to the wall for stabilization. Despite the efforts, large sections of the damaged area started falling off, posing safety concerns. The mural was vandalized again in 2019
